Case Study: Filterbuy Personal Profile Redesign

Project Overview

Filterbuy needed a way to enhance customer engagement and personalization. The Personal Profile project aims to create a user-friendly, personalized experience that allows customers to easily access order history, set preferences, and view tailored product recommendations, ultimately strengthening customer loyalty and improving the shopping experience.

Challenges
  • Limited Customer Engagement: The previous customer experience lacked personalization, making it difficult for users to connect with the brand on a deeper level.
  • Complex Navigation: Customers struggled to easily update their preferences and other key profile features.
  • Low Conversion on Recommendations: Without personalized recommendations, users were less likely to explore new products or make repeat purchases.
Objectives
  • Develop a user-centric profile experience that encourages repeat visits.
  • Personalize content to display recommendations and features aligned with customer preferences.
  • Improve ease of access to critical information, such as order history and preferences, to drive customer satisfaction and retention.
User Research

To understand the needs of Filterbuy’s customers, we conducted:

  • User Surveys and Interviews: Gathered insights into what customers valued most in a personal profile, such as easy access to past orders and tailored product recommendations.
  • Analytics Review: Identified points of friction where users frequently dropped off or failed to engage with the previous profile features.
Competitive Analysis

Studied best practices for personalization in user profiles across leading e-commerce platforms. This analysis informed our understanding of effective layout, customization options, and recommendation strategies.

Key Findings
  • Users expressed a desire for a streamlined dashboard with quick access to order history, clear account management, and personalized product suggestions.
  • Effective personalization was identified as a key opportunity to boost engagement and repeat purchases.
Ideation and Concept Development

We explored several layout concepts that prioritized user flow and information hierarchy. The primary focus was to make the dashboard intuitive and ensure that users could navigate effortlessly.

Wireframing and Prototyping

Using Figma, we created low-fidelity wireframes to map out the user flow and test layout options. After several iterations based on initial feedback, high-fidelity prototypes were developed to provide a realistic visual of the final design.

User Testing and Feedback

Conducted usability testing sessions with a sample of target users, focusing on:

  • Navigation: Ensuring ease of movement between profile features.
  • Customization: Evaluating how users interacted with personalized recommendations.
  • Clarity and Functionality: Confirming that information was presented clearly and that actions (such as reordering filters) were easy to perform.

User feedback led to several iterative improvements, including refining the recommendation algorithms to better match user preferences and simplifying the navigation menu for quicker access.

  • Responsive and Accessible Design: Designed with a mobile-first approach and adhering to ADA and WCAG guidelines to ensure a positive experience for all users.
